Questionable Psychics

Updated: Jun 7, 2023

What to know before you go!

So here’s a slightly strange fact for you. I am a Psychic Medium. I have a lifetime of experiences proving the other side, and our connection to it, is very real. Yet I have also spent a large portion of my life questioning the validity of other psychics and spiritual teachers I’ve met. Why? Because I learned to be a skeptic at a very young age and was well trained by Spirit to keep that skepticism. To them it goes hand in hand with intuition.

Spirit is probably in the best position to know just how many so called spiritual advisors aren’t what they present themselves to be. They know who is working from Ego and who is working from love. They know how each person uses their gifts and how connected they really are. They know if the person is actually speaking for them or if they are just telling the customer what they want to hear.

So Spirit and I highly suggest you go into any kind of psychic reading with a bit of skepticism. Yes. That even applies to the ones I give you. Feel them out for yourself. Decide what feels right to you and what does not. However, don’t be completely closed minded either. Humans are not 100% accurate with knowing what is right for ourselves either. So some of the things you reject from a reading might prove themselves to be right later on. Don’t shut them out when they show up just because at the time you didn’t feel ready to hear them. Be open to testing those ideas in your reality to see if they align for you. The trick is in staying somewhere in the middle of that spectrum.

As one of my favorite sayings reminds us:

Be open minded but not so open minded that your brains fall out.

It is important to keep in mind that there are just as many psychics working from various levels of energy as there are humans living and learning at those various levels. There is truly a psychic for every person out there. So not all psychics are going to work well with all customers. A psychic of higher-level energy might be too much for a customer of lower-level energy and end up leading to frustrations in communications of the message. On the contrary, a psychic of lower-level energy than the customer might leave the customer feeling like they got nothing from the reading and frustrated at that. The goal when looking into psychic readings is to find someone that feels right to you. Not just the first psychic you come across. Being drawn to a person is usually a great way to know if they are a good match for you.

As for the scammers. Yup. They’re definitely out there. I recently had a friend get contacted by a so called psychic medium on Instagram saying they felt they had a message for them. When my friend ignored the message the scammer continued to try and reel them in, saying it was urgent they heard the message and they might be in danger if they didn’t. Sadly these people are still out there taking advantage of others and giving real psychics a bad name.

So how do we spot these scammers?

Here’s 6 tips and tricks to keep in mind when looking for and having a reading.

If the psychic approaches you first. Be leery.

Especially if what they say has any kind of negative connotation to it. Like saying you or a loved one are in danger, have a curse on you or some kind of past life baggage that needs cleaned to make your current life better. These are usually the ones trying to scare you into readings and will eventually ask for a large amount of money in order to “help” you. I promise you do NOT need their help. No matter how convincing they are. They are lying to you. Period.

These types of scammers work from the goal of getting you as emotional as possible and then dropping the bomb of wanting money. They hit you when you aren’t thinking straight so you are more likely to give them what they ask for. The best way to keep that from happening is rejecting them right from the beginning.

Always make sure the psychic is upfront with the costs of the reading.

Most psychics I see these days have a set fee such as $50 for 30 minutes. If a psychic doesn’t make their costs easily known to you before a reading then you should definitely think twice before working with them. Some will add fees on as you go, for various things you didn’t even know were possible or agree to. Just like any other business, it is smartest to trust the ones that are upfront with you and not the ones that leave you guessing.

If you’re able to research the psychic before you go pay close attention to their own claims about their abilities.

No psychic is ever 100% right. But man would life be easier if we were!

Respectable psychics not only know that we’re not always right, but will freely admit it. There are too many variables when it comes to life. Very few things are set in stone so there is not one set future we can tap into. Its more of a fluid thing that is constantly changing with every decision you make. The best a psychic can do is tell you where you are headed based on your current situation. A really good psychic will also help you look at it based on what might change if you make changes in your thinking. Basically, looking at it from multiple paths to help you choose where you want to go instead of standing around waiting for it to happen to you.

If a psychic makes themselves out to be all knowing or eerily accurate, I suggest you pay attention to that. Sure, there are psychics with high levels of accuracy. But those who are most likely to project such an image of themselves are usually the ones working from Ego and a need to feel powerful vs those who are humble enough to admit they are not perfect. The further you go towards Ego, the further away you go from giving open, objective and spiritually connected readings

Be careful of psychics who promise to make things happen.

Like saying they can guarantee a specific spirit to come through or can make someone fall in love with you. These are usually scammers. Spirits are the only ones with control over whether or not they come through in a reading and there are a slew of reasons why a spirit might decide not to. As for making someone fall in love with you? Free will prevents others from having control over us. If something like that actually happens its because it was on the path to happening anyways. Not because the psychic created it. No respectable psychic is going to claim to do things that are beyond their actual abilities. Will the scammer make true of their claim? Probably. But they will be lying and manipulating you in order to make it happen.

Watch out for psychics who ask you a lot of questions, give a lot of vague answers or whose messages align completely with what you hoped to hear.

Now this one is a bit of a catch 22. Because psychics who are new to doing readings tend to rely more on your body language and responses in order to feel more confident in themselves. So they might ask you if you understand or for clarification as you go. It’s not at all considered best practice, but its completely understandable. However. If someone IS new to doing readings they should let you know before you begin the reading. Honesty is the key here. If they do not admit to being new or still learning and they ask you a lot of questions then you should question the accuracy of the reading.

The same is true if the person seems to be only giving vague answers. Some answers in a reading should be vague to keep proper decorum. Even I am sometimes. Like when Spirit is not giving a clear answer. Then the psychic can’t either. Or when questions are asked in a group setting and the answers that come through are sensitive and shouldn’t be shared with a group. BUT the psychic should be willing to express these things to you and not just answer like nothing is happening. If a reading has more vague answers than clear ones, question its accuracy because either the psychic wasn’t as connected or they were a scammer. Respectable psychics are usually honest to you if they aren’t getting a good connection or if the answer requires vagueness due to the type of answer spirit gave. They should also be willing to provide the answer in a way that allows for that decorum if needed such as writing it down or providing it in a way that only the intended person receives it.

Remember honesty is the best policy with spiritual readings of any kind. If the person doesn’t seem to be honest with you. Trust your feelings on that. Don’t take their reading as fact just because they call themselves a psychic.

It doesn’t take much to tell people what they want to hear and its very easy to learn how to read others in order to do so. Which is also why you should be careful trusting readings that seem to line up perfectly with that you hoped to hear. Yes, Spirit loves answering your questions. Us psychics do too. But Spirit is often blunt and not afraid to tell you what you NEED to hear even if its not what you expect to hear. Human brains feel safest when they believe they know what we need to feel safe and happy. And they are great at convincing us they know best in order to keep that feeling of safety in place. But Spirit knows what our brains don’t. That person you are dead set on wanting a relationship with might be a serial killer and you just don’t know it. Spirit is not going to tell you to follow that path if they know that is where it will lead. So a good reading should have more elements to it than just what you are hoping to hear. A balance of yeses and nos. If it doesn’t…I suggest questioning it.

Most importantly! Trust your own instincts first and foremost.

If something feels off about the person or their services, listen to that feeling! Even if the person seems like a great person or the feeling doesn’t logically make sense in the moment. That’s how your soul alerts you to the person not being right for you. So don’t try to force it if it doesn’t feel right. Even if you think you’re just being paranoid. I give you permission to believe that you’re not. Those feelings are there for a reason.

Trust them!
